Server Crash & Spawn

When the server crashed last night I was chopping wood. When I logged back in this morning after the crash I was somewhere else and my boat was missing. I drowned. I created a new character and found my boat later. Kind of an annoying bug.

I think i heard people talking about something similar, they logged out though while they were still in the boat, someone then stole the boat so when the logged back in they drowned.

That's similar, but not what he was saying. He wasn't on the water at all when the server crashed. He was chopping wood and when he logged back in after the crash somehow he was out on the water with no boat and died.
Scooby Doo taught us that the real monsters are humans.

Seems like the character suffered from a little location rollback independent of the boat (he was then using). (assuming no other players messed with the boat of course.)

You can't drown if you don't turn swimming on.

It's your own fault.

Yeah, that seems to be what happened. When the server crashed I was on the west side of a river on land with my boat in the shallow water nearby and 2 urns filled with boards sitting next to it. When I found the boat with the new character, it was in the place it was 10 minutes before the server crashed on the east side of the river, in the shallows, in my claim with both urns inside the boat and the urns were empty. So it seems the character and the environment had different rollbacks.

That doesn't really change anything; this is the bug forum. There was a bug, I'm reporting the bug. No big deal, just sucks for me.

It's not really a bug. It's working as intended.

When the server crashed your position was rolled back a bit so that you were still on a river in your boat. Then when the server came back online, someone came and took your boat before you could log in. Once you logged in, you were placed in the exact same position, only this time without your boat. This is the correct and intended behavior.

Your options at that point are to turn swimming on and swim to shore, or teleport away from the location.

Nobody stole the boat. The boat was rolled back, and the character was rolled back, but they weren't rolled back to the same points.

Unless you think somebody stole my boat, and then was nice enough to put it back where it was earlier in the exact same position, with the exact same urns, and inside my claim.

It was a roll back to different points in the time line, the toons where rolled back less time than the world.
I had chopped 5 trees and built segments of wall afterwards, when I logged in after the crash the trees where not chopped, the wall was not built, but I had in my inventory the wood blocks from the stumps of those trees.
