100% CPU usage

Postby drevnyy » Sun Nov 11, 2012 5:42 pm

With last massive lags it apeared new problem - 100% CPU usage
usually it was about 60-70% while working but when lags are very bad my CPU is overheating and it safekill computer.

i know that overheating is my fault but about month ago i had 90% usage with 2 clients now i have 100% with 1

ps. i have clean OS (no bugs, virus, unnesessary software etc.)

It's likely a hardware issue. Hardware ages and gets dusty over time. Without a bit more detail I could give you a bit more detailed of an answer but generally checking the power output on your fan, replacing your thermal paste, cleaning your fans, and doing some general maintenance can reduce the strain on your cpu and the heat it outputs. Heat buildup will make your computer less efficient so cooling it down will help.

A month old is fairly new but, did you get it used? When was it made?

His HDD is new - the motherboard is older (AM2) with passive cooler on chipset - (told him to place a fan into case: front blow in or back blow out to get a stream through case) - also the graphic card is close to it... i'm also not sure whether the temp measuring program he's using is reliable...

Safekill means BIOS shutdown power to avoid thermal destruction of parts.
I had the same problem on my shitty laptop, which had choked vent that always SKed my computer with overheat.
So-no it won't literally kill your PC, but it will make the game unplayable.
