Massive Lag from Flax Field - picture inside

The worst monsters in the Hearthlands warp the fabric of space and time..

Massive Lag from Flax Field - picture inside

Postby Jack » Thu Oct 22, 2009 10:35 am

I was playing just fine the day before they grown.
I have a 2 months old computer with updated drivers and a Geforce GTX 280 Black Edition and I can play any games with decent frames per shot.

Now, these monsters grown up and are causing so much lag that Im getting 6 frames per shot average, I cant barelly move or do any action.
Ive heard of people complaining about Flax Field, but now Im experiencing it at first hand.

I dont know why it is like that, just pointing it out in hopes it gets fixed somehow in the future. Maybe changing the flax textures, I dont know.

Here is the pic, the 6 fps is on the center left of the screen near the right letters.

If you plant a ton of flax around your house you're less likely to be hit by thieves, as most of them don't want to suffer the lag. Of course, you'll have to suffer the lag yourself, but such is life.

You're using an unsupported client at an unsupported res.
Shit outta luck.

Doesnt have anything to do with client. It lags with the original client too. However wheat causes even greater lag than flax. :[

I get lag around flax fields, granted not down to 6 FPS, around 15-20. Still playable. But meh.

I think that isn't true.

He has a way bigger field to render continuesly.

And yes fields lag a shitload, they should reduce the amount of sprites rendering from it and stop using the stupid random placed plants. I would much rather see them planted in an orderly fashion.

I don't think the random placement is a problem, but I'm pretty sure the large number of sprites is...

Maybe change it to limit the sprites to 2 or 3 z layers and draw those layers as sprites that get used many times? I'm not super big on graphics tech coding so I don't really know how it all works at a low level but I'd bet there's a better way than just drawing 20 odd sprites per tile.
