tree growth

i dont now if this is intended or bug:
some trees do grow really slow (after 2 weeks only chop option), and some are near mature (bark) in like 3 days.

if not a bug:
are there any other factors regarding tree growth besides forest ground.
does quality affect tree growth
does the presence of a mature tree speed the growth of young trees

Tree probably stopped growing because something was in the way when it tried to advance to the next growth stage.

What are things that stun the tree growth..?

Everything with a hitbox. Ie, if you can't walk through it, it can stunt trees.
