Claimed land took over hearth fire

Postby Dolichorhynchopz » Thu Aug 08, 2013 5:21 am

I logged on and couldn't press "Where you logged out", so I press "Your Hearth fire". I saw that my hearth fire and the camp with all my hard earned things were trapped in someone else's claim land that was not there before. I was unable to move and don't know what to do now.

This is not a bug. Anything unclaimed is free for the taking by anyone else including having the entire thing claimed. You no longer own any of it and I'm doubting you have enough str to break your HF so your best bet is to just start another character, get yeomanry as soon as possible and claim your stuff. Welcome to Haven.

You can turn on criminal acts and move around, you could build a new hearthfire somewhere. Main problem is you won't be able to get any of your stuff back. Early on before you have a claim, it's best to keep your most important items on you when you log off (not a bad policy even after you get a claim, either).

(just in case the above message is not doing it.)

1) Toggle Criminal_Acts on and move your character away from the claimed area. (Adventure menu option/button)
2) Get the Hearth Magic skill if you don't have it already. (200pts)
3) Find a string, and pick two branches.
4) Build a Dream Catcher. Will produce a A_Beautiful_Dream! in around 10 or 20 minutes. Harvest the dream.
5) Get some more branches(5), and build a new Hearth Fire.

I was really close to getting that claim, in fact, I would have had enough for it today when I logged on, but it was too late. Even when I turn on criminal acts, I'm still stuck here since I have a fence around my little home. The gate is inaccessible and I can't destroy it either since it is on claimed land! Being able to claim land over someone else's hearth fire is just ridiculous. I had a lot of important things, too much to put in my inventory when I log off. What a waste of time.

You probably just didn't check your neighbourhood and got to close to someone elses places and stepped on their toes...maybe you even chopped your area which is a big nono for some people - consider yourself lucky they didn't gave you the lesson of killing you...

If you play like making SIGs in forums... much to big - read rules and change it...

I did check my neighborhood, a lot. I have never chopped down any tree anywhere even near their place. In fact, 2 trees next to my hearth fire were the only one I ever chopped. I saw that there was a claimed area far to the south, but how was I suppose to know that it can take over the very thing I spawn at? I would much rather have him killed me and let me continue with my business than to be trapped here, in my very home, within the fences built by my very hands and not be able to do anything.

In the future, don't build a fence unless you can claim it. They're a pain in the ass to keep in repair, and they won't decay if they're claimed, afaik. The only good you're doing with a fence and gate around an unclaimed plot, is making yourself have to walk further than you have to just to get in and out. Animals don't care about your fence, either.

Thanks for the advice. But I really need to just get out somehow and play this darn game!
