Health decreasing in giant chunks!

I'm having what appears to be a massive glitch right now. Ever since a few hours ago just after fighting a boar and taking one hit, I've been randomly losing both SHP and HHP in giant chunks. It doesn't decrease, it doesn't even tell me I've taken damage, I just look and it's gone down loads. First it dropped to 65, then 34, now 15. I'm scared to even log on. I haven't got any leeches on or anything.

I was at 34 SHP and HHP when I last logged on, picked up my boat, and went to go to find a Gauze from getting wool from a mouflon, and no more then 10 minutes later, I look at my health and both SHP and HHP are at 15, bearing in mind I'm full in hunger, so that can't be it.
Everytime I've my health has gone down, I've had tracking enabled.
I've just logged off, and I'm scared to go back on, because if my health has randomly gone in another chunk, I'll be dead.

I'm in serious need of help.

Yeah, I have shoes on, but I did recently loot a friends dead body. Is that causing my health randomly drop in chunks?

Is it common for it to go as low as 15? And if so, could I possibly die from it?

And could I heal myself with Gauzes?

Yeah you can heal with gauze but someone else would have to apply the bandage. That would be the safest option for you. You could try using a single leech if you're careful but it will take awhile to recover HHP that way.

You can apply the bandage to yourself by taking off your item on your head slot, picking up the gauze and right clicking your character while the gauze is in hand.
