Boat bug/question

Do boats decay?
My private claim has 2 boats, of which one was in my direct sight, being on the ground for a while, today while working. I just looked again and it disappeared, as well as the other. Noone was online who had access to my territory, and noone has trespassed.

Is this a bug or do boats decay?

And you should be able to repair it before it happens by witnessing if the boat is starting to turn red.
If you keep focusing on the shadow behind, you will not see the light in front of you.

I built one of the boats maybe 4 days ago, the other boat yesterday.
