Swords do lower damage?

Postby ardjun » Tue Apr 06, 2010 12:41 am

I tried hunting with my sword today and i do like 1/3 of damage as i used to.
What could be the reason for this?
I have the same equipment as before.

Maybe you took off something that gave you a strength buff? Such as a bear cape, or bear tooth necklace.

Swords get some of their damage from 1/3 of your strength.

Or you could have stopped using a boar tusk snuff.
I like apple juice.

You will have to be more specific about exactly when you "used to".

Let's see, i'm using the same equipment, which means bear cape and bear necklace. I wasn't using boar snuff.

Before i could take on level 8 fox, lower it's defense bar with punch and then wait for my attack bar to fill and kill it with one hit with valorous strike or sting.
I estimate i did about 300+ damage with my soldier's sword.
Now with the same tactic i do only 100 damage. With knock his teeth out i can do 180 damage.

Was there anything changed with damage of swords?
I even took different sword to see if that one wasn't bugged and it's the same.

How much offense do you have when you attack? How much defense does your opponent have when you attack? What is your melee skill, what level of animal were you fighting?

If your offense meter isn't full and your skill is lower, and your opponent has enough remaining defense, your attack will do much less than full damage. If you really want to test the max damage for your weapon, use Opportunity Knocks four times to negate the opponent's defense, then valorous strike with a full offense bar -- that will minimize the effect of their defensive abilities and get you close to your maximum potential damage.

I had enough offense to do max damage. - according to my previous tries.
Unarmed 70, melee 30. Fighting a level 8 fox.
As i mentioned previously, i lowered it's defense bar with punch and then waited for my attack bar to fill up and attack again while it' defense bar was mostly empty. It didn't help.

Now with the same tactic i kill each of them in one hit while before i did 100 damage only.
