Problem with ATI agp graphic card

Postby hampeh » Wed Apr 07, 2010 5:11 pm

Anyone else having their computer rebooted while playing haven and hearth with ATi agp graphic cards? I tried on two computers with ati 9200 and ati 9550 where my computer will shuts down itself while playing haven and hearth .weird thing is, I can play other games without any problem. im using the latest driver for ATI AGP graphic card which is version 6.11 . ATI has discontinued driver support for AGP cards apparently.

Im sorry if the problem have been discussed before

Actually, yes. I have a x1950 pro and yeah, there's no more support for them.

My problem was the HnH client was taking up a ton of cpu and causing my computer to over heat and restart. I didn't notice while playing other games since they used less somehow. My card model runs hot compared to others so small amounts of dust can screw it up. It might be the same deal with your cards so you might wanna just try dusting them out.

Actually, I am experiencing similar problems on my ATI-equipped laptop as well. It isn't an AGP, but a PCI-Express card, however, and it doesn't cause the computer to reboot, but rather the graphics card to hang (the rest of the system continues to run and I can access it over the network and everything, but the graphics hardware has hung); but it is similar in the way that it only happens with the Haven client. It is a Mobility Radeon X300.

I've always ascribed it to hardware failure (especially since not even restarting the X server helps, which should otherwise reinitialize the hardware completely), but seeing how others seem to have similar problems, maybe there is reason to doubt it. I can't say I would have any idea what the problem would be, though.

I thought of this too when the first time i had the problem but its still there even after i cleaned the cpu and graphic card fans. Tried on two different computer (one has AMD 2500+,ati9550 and one has P4 2.8ghz,ati9200).

Notebook: just clean it once in a while (disassemble it to get to the coolers, they collect dust which will convert to nice felt over time).

I have also seen my ATI (5xxx series) crash with H&H, but CCC managed to restart the hardware every time so far.
