egg with odd characters

I found an egg on the ground near a bunch of cows. I picked it up and looking at it ,the tool tip gives me En d*lig id* where the *'s are square boxes usually used for character outside of the font's ability to display (you know what I'm talking about right?)

Is it a cow egg? can I hatch baby cows with it? What can I do with it? Is it a bug?
