Not able to build palisade.

Don't know if this is the right forum, fell free to move this topic if it's not.

So, I was building a palisade to protect my property and I can't finish it because I can't build on the greenish tiles, as you can see in the picture:



which is strange since I could build the cornerpost on this tile (upper right):



Is this intended or what? If it is, it's really annoying, since it makes the palisade useless.

It is not the bug, I am sorry to say.

It is the difficult job to join the pallisade to the cliff. Often it fails. You observe well that you cannot place the construction upon the green tile. I do not know what other solution there my be.

Do you think it could be possible to run the pallisade down around the other section of your camp, beside the water and then up to join the back of the ridge? It this does not seem to you too big the job you may want to first pave the foundation where the pallisade will go and then experiment to place the pallisade corner post against the ridge. If you put the one block in and do not build, then see if you may get past you will see if this works. If it does not work you take the block out again. If it does work you take the block out and you begin to build from the corner post that is near to the hazel tree. This is only if you have not sealed that corner post.

It doesn't matter anyway. Even if you were successful in building the post on that particular tile, somebody could just squeeze in-between the post and the cliff (e.g. like in your bottom picture).

Sorry to say, your pallisade is useless in keeping intruders out.

Being unable to extend the palisade in the 1st picture is a bug.
This is simply the the bounding box for that type of cliff is defined 1-2 pixel off where it should be.
Building against cliffs orientated like this in mountains works.

And yes it IS a fucking bug. However, for security purposes, you should take those pix down and send them to loftar privately. Not like you aren't already fucked for choosing to use keys but hey...you should always be screwed by choice and ignorance...not game design.

Thanks for the answers. I'm trying to extend the palisade so I can finish it on the cliff orientated north-south instead. Hope that works.

What do you mean? What's wrong with keys? I'm new at this game, so any advice would be appreciated.

you dont have to do sooo much
just finish your palisade at your most southern tanning tub
that would be the same side of the cliff as your cornerpost

about ppl squeezing through: i tried it with several "on tile" (means no shift placement) configurations and the ones like his cornerpost made it impossible for me to squeeze through ... i tried may be 1 minute ... anybody else tried more thoroughly ?

Concerning your palisade, always place a construction sign to test if the square will actually told one. Try to pass between the post and the cliff to test if it actually blocks it off.

Concerning keys, they're bad news. If you lose them, you get locked out. If you reincarnate at your old HF, you'll be locked in. Make yourself a village (even if you're only just alone) and use crossroads; keep your keys on an alt.
