Perishable items left on floor in house vanished within 30m

I just left 6 wooden blocks on the floor of my house while I went to go plow/pave a spot for my workshop/toolshed and about 30 minutes later they are gone

I apologize if there's a thread with this bug already, couldn't find one myself.

Uhm this is not a bug, it is supposed to be that way. Store items in chests or construction signs.

Uhm they were wood blocks. I just cut them before putting them in my house. The tree was cut down 2 hours prior. Wood blocks laying outside take hours to decay. These were fresh.

Logs don't vanish, blocks do. It does not take hours, it depends wether someone is on the same screen as the items, they will last longer then. When nobody is around items vanish quite fast.

ah so I should have known that, despite the fact I saw wood blocks laying in the same place for a couple hours outside, and I started playing this game for the first time 12 hours ago.

wtf? did I miss the link that downloads all the knowledge of this game into my head?
