Internet crash... potentially linked to H&H?

Postby Pestion » Fri Jul 09, 2010 8:21 pm

So, I started playing H&H about a week ago. Everything was fine, a little lag here and there, but it was all right. Well, a few days ago I started having internet connection problems while I was playing. I did not put much thought into it because I just figured it was my internet and would clear up. Well, I have discovered a strange correlation: while playing H&H my internet definitely resets. My service is perfectly fine all day, but as soon as I try to play H&H my connection starts resetting.

I am not very tech savvy, but I am literally able to see the connection (no pun intended) as soon as I start the game. I would talk to my ISP but I wanted to ask here first in case there is something that I am missing and can easily fix/alter on my own. My current ISP is AT&T and I am using their 2WIRE wireless router in case that makes any difference.

My friend that I tried to get playing with me had a similar problem.

Every time he tried to login, it killed his router (a WRT54G if I remember correctly). simultaneously everyone in his house would drop connection to any outside service. It required a power cycle to fix this, but each logon attempt to HnH did it. i THINK he was using the default client.

I've had the same problem but it happens in spurts. I had my internet knock out 5 times in one day, 3 times the next. Other than that it's only happened once since I've started playing.

I suspect Pacho is a warlock.

Actually, I've been hearing about instances of similar problems for a year now. I have absolutely no clue whatsoever what might be causing it, though. It's safe to say, at least, that nothing that the Haven client does should make your router crash.

It shouldn't but it is. Rarely, but still. I'm just glad it only happens in a place I rarely go.

This happens to me on a VPN, mostly due to loading screens. Sometimes it works, but not often enough to be playable.

I'd hope for a pattern, but I don't think there ever was one.
Come back two hours earlier.
