Thickets

Postby xyzzy57 » Mon Nov 04, 2024 4:30 pm

So far, I've found nothing I like about thickets, and plenty I dislike. Probably I'm missing something.

1) have others found things to like? If so, what?

2) Is it possible to convert thickets to other terrain, or at least create breaks in them?

One place I considered settling had a serious thicket problem. My plan was to chop down and pave thicket-breaks to facilitate travel, in spite of the heavy stamina drain involved (for a newish character). Or alternatively, sow "grass" - since that's less likely to degrade.

As it happened, the area turned out to also have a neighbour problem; I won't be settling there.

But what I'm wondering is whether anyone else has attempted anything like this, and whether it works. An old timer has told me this wasn't possible with the previous incarnation of thickets.

You were able to remove thickets in Legacy Haven by plowing over it with a plow.

thickets are currently the only way to get ticks.
ticks are useless, but i think its funny that they are there.

the way thickets are spread currently, makes it so that, you occasionally run through a tile every now and then without it affecting you too much, but you always have like random, ticks on you.

wich is nice.

and way better than they used to be, where it was just screens on screens of basically impassable terrain.

then again, i would really like a screenwide moat of thicket around my base. that would be nice.

more terrain, and mechanics are allways welcome though

We should get Lyme disease from all those ticks.

The ender beta client has an auto-drop parasites setting on the equipment screen. I haven't used or tested it. Other clients may have similar features.

Ticks are very useful. They're like leeches but you can dump a full inventory of them inside someone's house and they'll latch on to everyone they see
