They'd be Auks, surely? Penguins aren't historically accurate.

Well the interesting thing is the first penguin was the great auk (Pinguinus impennis), we wiped them out. Called everything afterwards that looked like in southern hemisphere a penguin even though they arent related (convergent evolution).

Also penguin might be the only word in the english language of welsh/breton/cornish origin.

Fun story, true story: The extant penguins are not actually penguins in the sense of belonging to the genus pinguinis.
