So yeah as the title suggest, I was banned in chat. Did not say anything worthwhile of a ban and believe it may have been a mistake as some dude was trolling. How do I appeal as I just started yesterday? (albeit made an account a few years back it seems)

Aye and Ministry of Magic realm for example will ban anyone interacting with trolls and feeding them even if youre unaware, like if you reply to "Orb Ponderer guy" youre OUT for a week lol

Realm chat mutes are specific to the character that was muted. You can create another character (whether on the same or different account) and use the chat.

Several people have advocated for the bans to be account-wide instead. While this would still be easy to bypass, adding even just a little hurdle is a very effective way to reduce low-effort trolling.

(In YouTube livestreams, allegedly just having the requirement of "you must have been subscribed to this channel for 5 or 10 minutes" results in 90% reduction of bad actors.)
