Haven & Hearth 2/Hafen appreciation thread

Postby Sartharion » Tue Sep 01, 2015 11:20 am

Jorb & Loftar have been getting way too much flak about their store implementation. How about we have instead have a thread where we praise everything good about Hafen?

I LOVE how well-made the animations are. How every step, every swing, every action at all really, feels impactful. How pleasing everything is for the eyes. How reactive the shadows are.
I LOVE all the discoveries! The experience system is an innovative way to progress, and learning combat moves through fighting is really cool.
I greatly enjoy the ability to stockpile things, how the pile becomes larger the bigger the pile is and how much it saves space.

What about you? What greater or lesser additions do you enjoy?

Jorbtar gave us Haven with a donation system and nobody batted an eye. Then they gave us Hafen with a subscription system and everyone lost their f*cking mind. I appreciate the patience and love Jorbtar gives us, like a parent to a spoiled teenager who expects everything in life to be given to them. Keep up the great work, fellas! I deeply and truly appreciate all the work you've put into this game and hope to one day give you money for it. :)

I love that it really feels like the old haven. And the boats are fucking awesome. Looking forward to exploring mining and metal crafting. Bring back the old music though Jorb :D

A lot of it is in already. Any particular piece you're missing?

For some of us it was never about the money ..... ofc they deserve financial appreciation for their work and we owe them for years of free game time in a game that we all love, I have absolutely no qualms about paying for Haven. (not that I could as the only payment option isn't one I use, I don't even know what bitcoin is and that will possibly be available before the end of the month ....)

Anyway, back on topic;

I love the background sounds! Birds, trickling water, some guy singing .... I have the sound on all the time and I rarely used it in old haven, combine that with the beautiful surroundings and all the different things to pick and investigate, so far it is wonderful. :D

Everyone I've met seems really happy, lol, a far cry from the forums the last few days, I've had people offer to travel with me, give me things, one guy built me a fire ... it just all feels so calm and relaxing ... atm ....

I love the way some things look now, my hair, dreamcatchers, horses, lol, they sort of look like they are made out of wood, I like it. :)

Yes, very happy with it all atm. Oh, and I also like the little quotes that come up when you do something new.

Loving the new graphics and animations, looking forward to some of the custom clients fixing up the minor details while loftar works on the cool new stuff.

Stockpiles are love, stockpiles are life.

I like the new hunger solution on food. It doesn't force you to actively grind but at the same time gates how much you want to eat so crafters can deal with the supply chain.

Holy shit plants. I'm absolutely mind boggled by how many new species are in, do even 1/4 of them have a use? I can have a true utopian garden with dozens of species. Hell, could I say 100? I'm curious what the actual tally is, but I'm guessing in the 50+ region.

XP LP system seems like a good step to controlling afk alts. Lets see how it works!

The thing I love most is the changes that were made to the game don't seem to have compromised the magic that is haven. I don't know why salem never really managed to get that, but Hafen definitely does and that's what counts.
Lucky: haven is so quirky
Lucky: can be so ugly, can be so heartwarming
