Need help with swords

Postby Ronin30 » Thu Oct 01, 2015 11:24 pm

The old wiki says this
Militia Sword does 250 base damage.
Bronze Sword does 325 base damage.
Soldier's Sword does 400 base damage.

Where does hirdsmen sword fit in?
Wasn't there a cutthroat sword?

Would say a q15 bronze sword be better then a q12 hirdsman?

fyrdsman sword = militia sword
Bronze sword = bronze sword
hirdsman swords = soldier sword

The names were changed, but it's still hirdsman > bronze > fyrdsman**. Those base damages are wrong, and im not really sure what quality a fyrdsman sword could surpass a lower quality bronze sword at. With that small of a quality difference i'd assume the bronze sword is better.

The base damage is also way, way less than in legacy. I would say roughly 1/3

Bronze is better then iron, iron is harder to make, doesn't quite make sense imo. My blacksmith doesn't get it.

To be fair, with how hard of a time i've had finding copper it doesn't seem too weird :P. Iron nodes are literally every where, only copper node i've found is an l2 chalcopyrite node

Iron is ridiculously common and wrought iron isn't exactly the best material to be making weapons out of. Bronze is a bit harder to get, since it requires 2 soft metals and is actually a pretty decent material to make weapons out of.

Every historical reference I've read and every video game says Copper > Bronze > Iron > Steel. Even the friggin' Bible. Having said that: I know that making Martial class weapons like swords are a bit more complicated (you have to fold the metal, etc.) the thing is anyone that properly alloys Bronze into a useable weapon probably know what they are doing and iron is just ya know iron... so anyone who makes something isn't automatically skilled at making stuff. When a new
technology come out its not going to be a superior to already established older technology. When television came out, it wasn't automatically better than radio: Radio technology had been established and evolved for several decades. Television had more "potential" than radio, but when you apply the saying "don't quit your day job" you can see that radio still gets used.

Quite a few video games put bronze above iron tho.
