Just dropped my keys

Postby craigh1993 » Sun Oct 04, 2015 3:26 am

In water. I was refilling my water skin to find better q water for rustroot extract and wasn't really paying attention accidently left clicked and was like 'Oh shit i've dropped my waterskin', look into my inventory then see it then realise I actually dropped my key ring with all keys. Whole base locked up, i'm inside so i'm gonna use as much of my resources as possible before I destroy my HF and leave and go further south. Or join a town.. maybe.

Heed my tale: Don't be a dumbass
Yesterday I murdered a rock, beat up a stone. Hospitalized a brick, I'm so mean I make medicine sick.

So what you're saying is you kept the master key on you instead of hiding it when you left your gates?

Never travel with the master key. It allows access through gates both ways. Carry slave keys so you can get out, but anyone that might take the key can't get in.

also: If you had the master key hidden at home, you could just make new slaves.

i didn't bother to hide my master key, i made slave keys and dropped the master key in the water on purpose.

That way no one ever gets in without having a fire on the inside.
This game really needs a great sword...

See I only want one slave key to work for everything, so I need to keep my master (hidden) so that I can use it when I make new locks.

That's brilliant. Can you make copies of slave keys from slave keys?

No, you can't. It'd be nice, though.

And you can't change locks without the master. Destroying the master isn't a horrible thing, just annoying if you do lose your key. Guess you could keep some ram materials around to break your gates if you need to replace the lock.

That makes me think that we should have a small chance to sometimes fish items thrown in the water.

Imagine how cool it would be to fish a key and be like "oh, damn, what does it open?" lol
