Haven & Hearth VS Salem

Personally I think that Haven and hearth has better mechanics that Salem due to only thing that Haven and Hearth seeds can be found in the wilderness and claiming the land is so much pimplier compared to Salem and it's all silver coins system which makes the game feel like pay to win compared to haven and hearth which is more like subscribed and play. There seems to be less of restriction for the players, one of them being no in game currency. Correct if I am wrong.

When comparing current Haven with Salem under new management rather than comparing Salem and its ideas back when Seatribe ran it, I feel Haven is and will always be infinitely better in terms of graphics, mechanics and the overall feel of the game.

Salem certainly has some interesting concepts, witchcraft being one of them, but even while the game was under Seatribe I never really could get in to it. Something about Salem was always off putting for me, I can't say for sure what it was but I just found myself never really gaining any interest in the game the longer I played it.

Also despite being permanently banned from their forums (for no good reason, at least not one I'm aware of) I do check them out on occasion and I can't say what I see is very promising. Last patch occurred back in February of 2016, a pre-patch warning was given on March 23, 2016 for the next one but since that time there hasn't been another update. I understand people have busy lives but that amount of time away without even contacting your players to say "hey, still here working" or something along those lines looks really poor on a developer.

my group's(~20 people) conclusion from playing salem for more than a month:
pay to win
crime system sucks ass
carebear game
its extremely slow
and the game is way too complicated that the grind is really annoying
way more bugs and abuses than in haven
devs favor the paying players more than the non-paying players ( In terms of in game things and forums )

haven is a much better choice, but there was a thing that i liked - they had dev events

the population there just shows how bad the game is smh

I play and love Hafen and very much like Salem. They're both great games, although the claim system is much better in Hafen. I also hate in Salem that many simple and EXTREMELY IMPORTANT things such as the Ore Smelter and Bread Oven require you to buy things (Or wait until late-game).

Overall,

Salem: 8.5/10
Haven: 9.5/10

Hafen is overall better than Salem, but both are great games.

EDIT: And yes, the spinning circus beavers are quite entertaining.

Salem was better when all you needed to do was eat cabbage leaves for infinite stats. Then they were comparable. Both have their charms, Salems combat system is superior but Hafen has a better method of gaining skills. IMO.

Salem was fun pre purity patch, but it literally hit rock bottom overnight and then stayed there because of that patch

That and the fact that it was a tedious mess in nearly every way.
