RNGJesus hates me

Or at least it likes to fuck with me while knowing what I'm thinking about.

Get fucked up and decide "Screw it, I'm gonna deal with these low-level wounds. Time to get nettles!"? Well no nettles for two hours.

Give up and decide to get chives? Nettles are everywhere now, but no chives!

Gonna go on the Great Hunt and kill some boars? Nettles and Chives everywhere, but I guess boars went extinct or are all friends with bears.

Haven I want to love you so much... but you need to get the fuck out of my head.

Just collect/kill everything you see regardless of what you're doing. I've accumulated plenty of excess string/nettles/blueberries this way.

I might start doing that after I get my backpack upgraded. Having large amounts of Blueberries would be pretty great.

Just do a variety of things while wandering in the wilds. Forage, hunt, fish, gather, etc.

Also helps with exp generation.

One of the hidden mechanics of this game is that it connects to your mind and communicates with your brain on a subconscious level and adjusts the game appropriately based on the feedback collected. Already boiled 5 cupboards of mussels and received no pearls? Well that's because your need for this specific item is being analyzed by the game and the success rate is adjusted in order to make the game seem more "difficult" or "grindy."

One method I've found that does seem to help in circumventing this is to not think about the thing you need while you're looking for it. For example if you need to hunt for deer, go out looking for bears instead and you're sure to come across at least some deer that way.

The quote in my signature explains it all.

I encountered the evil nature of the Hearthlands just like you. Everytime i notice the foragable i was looking for on the map, i moved in closer and all of a sudden a wild badger, boar or bear appeared. This harassment has continued to this day. Now that i am strong enough, i can finally punish them for their griefing ways 8-) .
