pvp

i ve been reading the forums over and over and it s amazing, out of the 100 posts i ve read 93% of them are "griefers" wanting it to be made "easier" for them to grief. i also read it s immposable to "flag" yourself in pvp or no pvp. are you serious, every
game like has that option. this game and others will have people playing that are not "griefers". i can agree with pvp but it s not pvp when your out exploring and 10 people attack you. thats not pvp thats just 10 little men who wasnt cuddled enough by their mother as a kid. to stand around and talk smack, really.....it s not pvp. no matter what stats/skills you ve learned when you go up against 10 people it wont matter. i read a post from jorb about crime in daily life....amazing i am in my 40's and have not gone out and "capped" a fool. i am pretty sure all the "hardcore" players in here dont go out and do "crime" everyday. all this game is a game made for "griefers" who think they are awesome when their stats are in the 100's and a new player is at 1. read the post from jorb and loftar on this....this is what they want. some new person to "donate" their hard earned cash and come in and get griefed on their first day. i mean really...what they should do is charge say 10$ and you can have the ability to kill anyone and go any where and do anything....you know for the griefers. then can stop reading the whinning on forums how the 10 to 20 of them have to work harder to get their "rocks" off now. the game has dreawn a lot of attetion but never will reach a lofty goal when you go into the game and die the first day and LOSE it all, so you have to start complety over again. flipping a key to turn off pvp or to turn it on is not immposable, just dont wanna do it cause the amount of "griefing" will go down. better yet why not do like ultima online and create a area where it s pvp and a area non pvp. make the pvp more rewarding as in skill and lp's. their s 100 different solutions like that that can please the ones that wanna pvp and the one who enjoy exploring and building and creating things. lets here the flame psots now!!!

If there's na option to turn off/on PVP (if I understand You correctly) griefers will use it to be safe from You, while destroying, stealing your stuff or locking You somewhere from where You can't escape. :)

Crime is not griefing. It's an intended function of the game.

If you're looking for organized PvP, no, that doesn't exist. The most "organized" it gets is when one group decides they're tired of another group and decide to try go kill them off. This is more like the 8th century and life is figuring out how you're going to get your next meal and to worry about who's going to ride up to town and start throwing torches at buildings.

Yep, and so is the ability to go out and punish criminals. Strike when you will, preferably when the guy you're killing is offline so you can drink his tears after. "But I only wanted to steal your cow so I could have some milk." "Too bad. We hang cow thieves in these parts."
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Haha, that's a great way to put it.
“We still, alas, cannot forestall it-
This dreadful ailment's heavy toll;
The spleen is what the English call it,
We call it simply, Russian soul.”

An idea to consider: Tedium, a Feature.

This is what I've tried to tell people - either you have PVP, or you have to hire a team of moderators to individually police every single transgression in the Hearthlands as a result of PVP invincibility. Yet people seem to think this is a byproduct of my creepy mind rather than the actual result of how players behave.

Wurm online had a pvp server and a non pvp server. A team of volunteer mods policed the non pvp server, and occasionally threw offenders to the pvp server.
Greifing tended to be pretty mild in that game, even on the pvp server there was just warfare, not a lot of greifing.

Criminal Acts, Rage, Trespassing, Theft, Vandalism - should be only for those who bought the game.

Wurm Online has very badly-developed PVP and raiding mechanics. It's hard to compare that to H&H when there are so many ways to grief people here.

This effectively incentives picking on newbies and non-payers, pushing them away from the game.
