Undergoing a period of self evaluation I realised how important positivity is to my ability to think creatively. At the same time I considered how I post on the forums and it became obvious that 90% of my posts are of me complaining about the game or challenging the life views of others and causing them cognitive dissonance. I don't think I'm the only one doing this.
It must be difficult sometimes, I thought to myself, to be able to nourish creativity when being constantly bombarded by the caustic written poetry of others.
To that end I have created the Dev Appreciation Thread; a thread reserved for positive comments and feedback for the devs, a haven amidst this tumultuous sea (cacophony if you will) of bickering and complaints. Feel free to contribute with whatever it is you enjoy about the game, features you feel were a step in the right direction or without which the game would lose its soul. Posts not in the spirit of the thread will not be tolerated and mod abuse will be encouraged in this respect (pretty much the only thread I have ever or will ever report posts in). You can repeat something someone else has posted, each post does not need to be unique, it just has to be about some thing or things you enjoy or like about Haven and Hearth. If you enjoy killing noobs, that's a valid contribution.
I'll start.
I like the constant looming threat of annihilation which hangs over my head almost every moment I spend in the game. I like the art style. I like how convoluted and complex the mechanics are and how they constantly challenge me to learn and adapt my playstyle. I like that the devs listen even if they don't always agree that I'm right. I like the way the game pushes boundaries.
I think kingdoms were a monumentous addition to the game and for the most part seem to have been implemented fairly well. I like the community, the good and the bad, and I like that even the worst of us have our moments where the polished metal beneath shines through the grime. I like that this place was made for us.
There are a lot of things I like about Haven and Hearth. I'm sure I will add more in time.
