My laptop also overheated and fried itself while running this game.

Not even kidding.

Stress test software confirmed, should be included in all the new hardware benchmarks.

I still don't have a new one.

Keep your vents clear and clean the fan now and then. My previous laptop would overheat to the point where some safety feature would kick in and it would instantly shut down with no warning. Had to replace the fan for that issue. After a few years, laptops tend to need a new fan, especially if you're a gamer or using heavy software a lot.*
If you don't want to do that, then buying a cooling pad/table for your laptop is also a good strategy.

My laptops been having trouble sense the last update sadly. I play for a little bit and things start to go black before crashing.
let us all take a moment remember and honor trisby, the true desident of Tris, who was last seen in all white walking into a river with her beloved sledgehammer in her hands. May she find honor and glory in the next life

core i3 2430m
nvidia 540m
max noisy cooling = 70 celsius
simply crops, no flavor obj, no shadows = 30 fps in village
vanilla settings = 10fps

Shutting down during the game happened to me all the time and it's 1 of the 2 reasons why I'm not playing. For me it's a haven-specific thing, although it did happen once with a particularly demanding save of a heavy paradox game.

My laptop struggles with the game too. Disgustingly bad optimization tbh
