Hello friends and foes,
It's been a long time since I last played the game (29 months and 1 day). I was unimpressed with the new version of Haven after a couple weeks of trying it out when it first launched, but now that it has been in development for quite some time now, I figure it may be time to give it another chance. I have a few questions about what has transpired in my absence, that I may determine from the gate whether my time would be well invested in this endeavor.
1. I had a lot of complaints about the state of combat (viewtopic.php?f=40&t=43410). I've heard that many of my complaints turned out to be non-issues, the combat system has been reworked since, and the combat system is going to be reworked again in the near future.
1.1. What do you think of the current state of PvP and combat?
1.2. Is it more, or less, stat-based than it was in W7?
1.3. Is there currently an altpocalypse underway or has that been sufficiently mechanically disincentivized?
1.4. Is PvP fair for both the attacker and the defender, or at least equivalently so as in W7?
1.5. How is sieging? I saw the thread about the aurora siege, and it appears the median opinion is that attackers must expend enormous resources relative to defenders. Is it similar to brickwalling a ram next to someone's brickwall and all similar such tactics required to reliably siege a well-patrolled (and/or defensively rammed) village wall in W7?
2. How is the PvE content of the game? For instance, on a scale from Legacy Haven to Salem, how much interesting content (other than spending weeks grinding out another quality point on your commodities) is there to explore and keep one busy outside of PvP?
3. How is the current world? Has it been around for a sufficiently long time such that it would be impossible to catch up as far as infrastructure/resources, and more importantly, character development? Could I jump in the mix and have a character that could reasonably fight characters from top factions within 4 months or less?
4. Do jorb and loftar have any plans to slow down development / make a different game / explore alternative revenue streams / etc in the pipeline?
I look forward to hearing back from the perennially classy gentlemen and ladies of this illustrious community and their generously descriptive responses.
Thank you in advance,
Nini
