Are there any MMOs on steam with infinite level cap?

Postby donatas » Tue Apr 24, 2018 2:37 am

Since haven and hearth is cool and all, I am still looking for alternatives while my crops grow and hides dry lol. So I am looking for MMOs mostly, could as well be any rpg or any other game that is on Steam and would prefer if its free and if its not oh well. That would have infinite level cap just like haven and hearth, where you could level up endlessly. So if anyone knows sent those precious steam links, thanks in advance.

I'm not sure if EVE counts or not in your book. Progress isn't necessarily infinite, but it's long enough to not matter. It was 20 years last time I really bothered to check. More skills have been added since, and probably up to 30 (or more) years now. Individual skills can only level to 5, but there's a deep skill tree. Free play is limited in number of skills you have access to, and you can only access one faction per account. You can trade for time codes (PLEX), but it'll take you some time to get your first couple. Subs are otherwise $15 US a month.

Just to note, there's always more you can do in Haven, even when there doesn't seem to be much. Knock out some quests and get a big XP buffer, make more curios, farm more food, hunt more... something.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Progress in EvE is certainly finite. Although it'd take quite some time to Max out every skill, you can. Further, you can reach maximum potential on a single ship or class of ship in a reasonable amount of time. It's only doing that for *every* ship and module that is super slow.

I dont think it is suitable to measure your progress in eve online as "skills trained"....
Even if you had all skills trained, you would not have "beaten the game". There would still be same amount of gameplay available, if not more, as there is when you only have skills worth of few months trained.

I like the pvp side of it but you can switch between pve and pvp easily

How does siege work in wurm? Why do people not get their bases raided or troll-built into oblivion?

I remember there are npc protecting your stuff, you can build a guard tower that spawn npc. Other than that I don't actually know in depth how the system works.
Make friends with the other crabs or try to escape the bucket.

On the PvP servers there's siege engines which you can use to break down walls to get to the settlements centre which can be drained for their money until it's basically a haven claim with no power left, then the land is up for grabs again. Although I played when it wasnt even on steam so not sure these days.

And why do the strongest factions not dominate the servers completely and ROFL-stomp everyone else?
