This game should not ever be reviewed by people who haven't played it for at least 2+ years, engaged in every mechanic possible (not quitting after achieving a quality 30 bronze swords), understand why someone is better than them and don't make up retarded excuses (stuff like "they gotta be botting everything, there must be a bot that plays the game on its own and gives them some huge exploit advantage" lmao), understand the obscene advantage you get by putting a huge amount of time in the game, which can only be achieved by jobless people or teenagers/students, understand how huge the advantage of playing in larger groups of competent people affects gameplay, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.
People who are not biased/inexperienced.
Why am I saying this?
A new player, no matter if they're some giga chad ultra hardcore gamer that played games for 50 years OR are some casual person stumbling upon it, will have this reaction:
- Yo cool 2.5d game, nice
- A boar attacked me, why do I do absolutely no damage to them when punching back? what the fuck is a sidestep? what are those weird icons popping up when it attacks me? what are those dance moves representing (the things we call combat colors that are retarded in the vanilla client), and why am I forced to walk speed, how do I regain my stamina?
- Why did my house disappear, I've just built it yesterday and now it's gone? (hasn't discovered claims and decay yet)
- Damn, there's so much depth in this game, I mean farming takes so many days, there's gotta be lots of things.
- I wonder how to start mining, i've been playing for 2 weeks.
- I checked the forum, there are posts from 3+ years ago suggesting having over 50 stats to fight bats, let's hope I don't die.
- Yooooo some player told me unless I want to be crippled, there's custom clients with basic features that are mandatory to use, which are straight up missing from the core client, dope.
- Damn there's a huge thread with 100+ tips and tricks (90% outdated) on how to play this game! Sweet!
- Someone attacked me and my game closed? said something about nVidia?
And lots of other things like this. Should a player like this leave a review? I mean sure, both OG players and new players can agree that this game is super duper NOT new-user friendly. But the new players can't see how much this game improved over the years, granted at an ultra low rate, but still.
If anything, a new player reviewing this game will either hurt it super bad, or bring in a few people that will 99% quit after 2 weeks cause they can't be arsed with the tedium and how long it takes to learn a game with so much depth.
And if they join the cringe faction driven unmoderated "unofficial" official HnH discord, they'll be pushed away.
