Who even are you?
I'm Pills. not particularly well known among most groups. I've been here since world 3, this is obviously not my original account. I found the game originally through an online forum I was in around making video games, specifically Eclipse ORPG engine if anybody here remembers that. After world 3 I played as a hermit every world with 3 other IRL friends right up until world 10. World 10 I joined very late, 1 year into the world and joined some rando village on my own before convincing 2 of my buddies to play again, then we left that village and formed Glimmersreach within the borders of NK. not too long before the Aurora seige. During that time I made friends with other people in NK and ran around with some of them doing the pvp shenanigans.
World 11, some of the folk I met in W10 asked me if I'd like to join their group. This group was made up of remnants of the F&I faction and several of the NK villages. And every world since has just gotten smaller and smaller. We don't recruit other than when someone has an IRL friend they want to join them and we don't get involved in any politics. Every world since we find a small corner of the world to hide in to build pretty things and enjoy the PvE/Larpy side of the game. Sometimes we trade, sometimes when people have targetted us some of the more known members of the group have requested help from the larger groups, but I still don't believe that is playing into politics in asking for help being defended. The vast majority of the "big players" that made F&I and NK factions in W10 no longer play the game at all and is largely part of why we no longer play the game with any intention of being a "faction" or a competitive group, we just aren't interested in it and the bullshit politics that come with it.
And as such, I don't consider myself to be affiliated with any of the existing factions in the game.
Why do you want to be a mod?
Honestly, this game is fantastic. Sure it has some rough edges, but the fact Jorb & Loftar are still working on this is a miracle. Very few hobbyist developers would make it this far given the chance into a single projects lifespan and I think they get way too much shit for what is basically 2 dude just vibing and making a cool video game. I also don't actually like the state of the forums nowadays, its incredibly toxic and, although most steam players would likely never stumble here other than looking for a custom client, the state of things lately could instantly turn off new players from wanting to even try the game out.
I believe i'm capable of being completely neutral and unbiased, though I will admit to things getting heated at the start of the last few worlds every time I got to starting Mystic, but hey they changed that and now so I don't have to start a Mystic credo hate thread anymore!
I also believe on a professional level I can firmly separate personal/professional lives/opinions. So while I would still like to engage in discussions/threads with my own personal opinions, I would not let my personal opinions weigh in on any moderation decisions, I would entirely be looking to further enforce the rules of the forum and bring a little bit of class to the place.
But I heard you use bots.
Its true, I have made bots in this game and I actively use them. I'm not prepared to share with the wider public exactly what they are or how they work, though if Jorb & Loftar were interested i'd be more than happy to divulge to them.
Why do I use bots? Because i'm not a teenager anymore and I simply do not have the time for most of the content in this game, as with most of the people in my group that are actually still playing. We're all adults, people have careers, families and various other commitments taking their time now that they simply can't commit to a game. So we use some bots to remove some of the tedium from the game so we simply don't have to. Infact, some people in our group actually don't like the bots and still do some of the actions themselves because they enjoy it. Like tree farming for instance.
I've also very much advocated sharing what areas of the game are commonly botted and ideas/discussions around how they can be changed to be more appealing and thus, less incentivised to just bot.
Should my advocation for what is a 'grey area' in the games rules remove me from being legible for moderation status? debateable, I personally don't think so.
But do you even have any cute pet pics?
Yes mate, my favourite furballs that I am absolutely obsessed with, Iggy & Dave
