May be worth noting that you can right click on curio's to get a menu option to study them rather than going through the menus

Hi,
first time player here so please bare with me.
I have some question on progression in the game.

I figured out how to get my skills and also how to make some basic stuff.
Anyway, how to proceed from there? I made a fishing pole and got my first fish! :) But how for example do i know which attributes to raise?

Some basic tips after the initial start n the game would be great.

Thanks

Attributes you raise by eating proper food. Perception is for discovering stuff on the map, so that is useful. Intelligence let's you study more curiosities, good too for starters.

For learning points you need curiosities. You can craft some or find them as herbs and the like. Put them in your study menu on the character screen. Once they are done you get more learning points.

Each item you craft has a little icon or more in the crafting window which indicate what skills you need for them (hover over it). Those usually cap the quality of your tools. Quality system is different now than before, cannot really tell you much about it yet.

As for professions you really decide for yourself if you want to learn them all a little or become a specialist in one. The latter is probably better suited for group play.
