You could not possibly be more wrong there. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it is considered pay2win by essentially everyone (barring those who don't know what pay2win means - like you), especially those who played EVE when it was introduced. And they sure as hell complained about it, but accepted it as a compromise, because there was no other game like EVE out there -- just like there's no other game like Haven out there, and that's why people accept it here as well. But that doesn't mean it's not pay2win. It doesn't matter if you have to trade it in order to gain an advantage, or if trading it is hard, or if the advantage is small - whatever the case, if you can exchange real life currency for in-game power, it's p2w. But a game being p2w doesn't mean that it's bad or that people should stop playing it.

They're not because trading is a fuckton of work now. If you think it wasn't safe before, it's even worse now.

Inb4 tokens just destroyed for lulz.

That's part of it, but they also have no value whatsoever to subscribers or people who play less than 7-14 hours a week.

Depends on their resale value. Even if you don't need it, but know there's a market for it you would still in theory accept it as payment. Assuming the barriers to trade drop with highway creation.

Selling time codes on EVE was around years before PLEX were introduced into the game. I think I played 3 years on GTCs prior to that point, and it had been around a couple of years before that. When the economic reports were being done, it wasn't the big alliances using the time code and PLEX trading, it was individual players and such. P2W in a game where you can get it all blown up and stolen almost can't exist. Maybe we should call it "Pay to give someone else the win."

Did you just compare pay2win to playing the game?

You can't buy items that impact gameplay directly from the store. No one can use this benefit to get better quality than someone already earned in game. And whoever is earning that quality gets to decide if they want to sell it for sub tokens or not. This is a far cry from the way many games abusively treat microtransactions, and EVE online uses this system without being considered pay2win by essentially anyone.

They may better someone's ingame lifestyle, but they will never decide who "wins" the world in the slightest.

Eve online is most pay to win game in earth. If you want to you can buy character that required 10 year of training/subscription. You can buy him all ships and most expensive modules if you just pay enough. Sure that doesnt make you good player. But with char and ship good enough you can win anyone.
