if the question is "how does it work?" the answer should just be "it doesnt"

Not knowing how something work's isn't the same as it not working. I don't know how airplanes work but I can still fly around the world in one.

The idea is that we shouldn't be able to fig ure out how it works.
If we do, we can game it.
Then rare curios become less rare, and people bot them.

The only fate thingy I have got is boletes (if they even are) and i don't care at all :)

Lp seems to matter less anyway on most types of chars, at least for now.

Can confirm they exist for normal people, wife just found one today. She's actually really unlucky when it comes to fated curios compared to me. I've got guesses as to how the fate system works, but they're just guesses. The system is designed to prevent activities from being brute forced though, aka stopping botters. This hints that however it works, boiling cupboards of mussels for a pearl is probably going to trigger it into stopping you getting a pearl.

So if I'm finding a lot of bolle's does that mean I have decent fate?

this really makes sense to me when it comes to getting pearls, but how about forageable fated curios? how would that work?

See we're back into guess territory, but however the system works it's meant to stop characters who do a single thing all day from finding fated items all the time.

My wife is mainly a forager. She sees maybe about the same number of fated curios as I do, or a bit less (RNG still a factor), for me doing about 1/4 the amount of time foraging than she does. I have similar exp*per as her, but I spend my days doing mining mostly, and only forage when I go out hunting.

So don't forage all day expecting rares. You could call it a "daily bonus chance" or something, but the system isn't that simple knowing jorb. You might get a higher average number of fate finds by varying your activities. For example, I try to forage a bit and boil maybe 20 mussels a day type thing. No way of knowing for certain if that works though.

Generally, just ignore fate curios. They don't exist as something you can "try to get", that's what the system jorb designed is supposed to do. They're supposed to be random lucky things you get once in a while.
