If the game was shutting down for good, I could see loftar and jorb making that decision. As it is, new stuff builds on old stuff, and it might just give an unfair advantage or lead to some copyright issues.

Because Steam handles a lot of content development software, too, free, limited licensing, and pay up front. If you ever want to build and market a game, Steam is a one-stop shop.

No, just add forageable stones

That would work excellently. I'm surprised jorbtar never thought of it before...

There may be dragons...

about stones... I think the "common" stones should not be so hard and rare, and they should be renewable, since they'r mostly used just for paving and building basic tools. Leave the rare stones and surface metal nodes as rare, but make the most "simple" ones easier to find on low Q! This way, everyone gets happy :P

Stones from digging FTW. If we can put stones into the earth to landscape, we should be able to dig it out.

Tool Tips over items to tell how they can be obtained.

"Chipped from Boulders, Found when Digging" should work for basic stone tip. The 'cave wall' and 'smelting' kinda come along on their own. Or hell, a full tool tip, y not?

Oh yeah, because I'd rather they spend their time developing new and interesting things, that's Y Not.
jorb: I don't want *your* money. You are rude and boring. Go away.
Sevenless: We already know real life has some pretty shitty game mechanics, it's why we're here instead.
Avu: The end is near it has finally come to pass: I agree with Lunarius...
Shubla: There are also other reasons to play this game than to maximize your stat gain.
