Been playing Magic Duels online since it's F2P. It's not half bad, but a lot of grinding for coins if you don't want to pay for card packs. At least you get daily quests for winning with different decks or playing certain cards.

I've not played since the game first came out on cards. My knowledge is quite dated now. :)

You'd be surprised how quickly you pick things back up. There was some major rules changes around 98 or so with turns and a few details to make things a bit more sensible. When I picked up Duels when it came out a while ago, I hadn't played a match since around 2000 (Urza's had just came out). The rules were easy to pick back up, the deck strategies have been a bit harder, but the same basic ideas are there. The interface for Duels, on the other hand, could use some tweaks... then again, I got used to the Microprose version with Shandalar (wish that was fully functional for Win XP and newer... wonder who owns the rights and if they'd be willing to get it updated just so I could play it again... then I could get rid of this Win98 computer I've kept working for 15 years....)

I used to play the game pretty religiously, but it's gotten too expensive any more. Prices don't even drop after cards rotate out of standard now thanks to the modern format. And it didn't help most the people I played with didn't even make their own decks, they just looked up top tier shit and bought it. Every new set they release is more broken than the last and heaven forbid you want some non-basic lands for your deck. Might as well just buy some diamonds.

One of the best games ever made. I play and have played it a ton since Revised.

I play limited more or less exclusively.
