Are we
not supposed to be able to kill things with a sling? Is it simply supposed to be a combat initiator? If so that approach is also unsuccessful because you'd waste time trying to unequip it to ready your actual weapons? [25QL Sling & 23+ Marksman, and 19 perception and it either misses the animal very often or the animal runs away..Have tried everything I can think of, read the wiki and all the posts I can find on it..] I've wasted many inventories of stones and now I'm rather frustrated with marksman, after trying every animal I could find and wasting many hours searching for them and trying to attack them. I only managed to kill a boar(and of course a chicken in one hit, but I'm looking for better things to kill than that!) but only after having to chase it down after it started running and punching it to death.. That only worked because boars are not as fast as us when running. I tried waiting until the animal "twitches", I tried having more IP than the animal, I tried changing the direction I'm facing, I tried standing on land versus being in a boat, I've tried hitting it for agro then running away and trying to get back to hit it again and it usually runs away on its own by that time, I've tried blocking it in with a boat, I've tried getting on land the same side as the animal trying to shoot it then getting back in the boat before it gets to me, none of this has been successful,
please explain what the developers intend the sling & marksman skill to be used for and how. Is it simply supposed to be useless at these levels? If so that makes no sense to me, as well as having to try to find a way to "cheese" the mechanics I don't see that as good gameplay. This has been even more frustrating to me than how digging used to be, which by the way you have my thanks for improving on in the recent update.
Ok so, this is why people don't want you to "fix" it, it's already broken and the "fix" is going to make it worse, as in more broken, it needs a whole rework like the above suggestion:

More than a Fix, I belive we need a whole new approach for hunting.
A real "fix" would make all animals not run faster than the boars current run speed when they try to run away, a trail of blood following the animal when it runs away that lasts until its death(of which the blood animation is already in the game as you can see by using leeches) and fix the accuracy problem by displaying what the problem is that is preventing the stone from hitting the animal, for instance if the animals level was to high type of ordeal, of course this would only be a start, traps preventing the animals from moving would be even more ideal perhaps. I mean it is something hunters use in the real world after all to prevent an animal's escape. This whole thing is like we're having a race and you tell us you are removing boats because people used a boat to cross a river on the way there, yet it's the only way across the river without dying, so rather than build us a bridge instead which would be the real fix, you are choosing your decision to remove the boats for a non logical reason to us. We have the understanding that you want it to be difficult, but needlessly difficult if not impossible, and also illogical to some degree, and just plain unfun......do you see where I'm going with this?
