p-claims are not that oddly shaped, though, so I assume this is just a visual glitch because of terrain elevation?

It's not. it's the terrain, because he has transitions off. You can see the edge of the bottom pclaim terminates just along the cornerpost. I suggest you guys get your eyesight checked ^^

My judgement would actually be to make leantos have no collisions to avoid stuff like this. It's not too major issue but I think leantos not having collisions would be allright.

A leanto without collision might be a bit weird, though...

Perhaps they could make it so they can't be built too close to claims. Inside claims, ok. But when outside, not too close. (a 2-3 tile limit would already work)

Then they would simply build the leanto first, then claim around it.

Well, there are two approaches:

1- either the leanto lose the claim over it or;
2- the claim can't be expanded next to it (just like you can't expand a claim next to another.)

Both can be abused, though arguably it makes much more sense for a claimed land expansion to "take over" temporary camps (1) rather than having temporary (and easy to build) camps blocking the expansion of claimed land...

This would, however, completely nullify the Leanto's efficiency on the early game. Griefers could easily "steal" by working with claims... so it's a complicated matter.

Make no mistake, I agree that passable leantos are the easiest and more functional solution. I'm just trying to figure out other options :D

Distance check to other leantos, like with milestones?
