Yes, that is correct. If a celestial body with as much or more gravitational force came within contact distance of the Earth, the Earth and all of us would be stripped down and turned into another ring for that celestial body. There are concerns about this scenario happening (even if it is unlikely) when the Milky Way and Andromeda intersect in about 4 billion years.

For the record, the base picture is part of a series illustrating what it would look like if other planets were as close as the Moon is. I really, really hope I don't have to mention that there's no way this side of literally Armageddon that Saturn will be as close to Earth as the Moon is.
