Srsly though, when a spoiler becomes not a spoiler anymore? That's what I really want to know for quite some time (since that day when someone shouted "Dumbledore DIES!" at the premiere of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" and I had a very controversial discussion on the matter).

A very astute topic for what we all really want. I'd like people who are so obsessed with not getting their media experiences ruined to not bother looking at the Internet until they fulfill their desire for whatever media it is they're following.

I want even more to not have these media obsessed people in the first place.

edit: looks like Ysh beat me to saying it.

Disregarding the justification of a "no spoilers!" demand, judging from a potentially "spoiling side", it's a matter of courtesy, in fact, to not "spoil" the plot of a media-released item, if asked. I was wondering how much time should pass 'til courtesy goes over the edge and becomes stupidity. To illustrate, if someone spoils new season of GoT, this is just trolling in bad taste. But if someone gets angry that he's been told a spoiler about "Star Wars" original trilogy, that's just silly. So, I really want to know: where's that threshold?

But, yeah, I guess it is

As defaults, I think it is never polite to intentionally spoil some story. It does not matters how old this story is. But to stop discussings because some eavesdropping can happen from men who have not seen it is silly, no matter the time.

On the internet I think it is fair game always. If this person cares for story integrity this badly, they will not read media until they can view this story. You do not see people complain ''oh, I read newspapers after the big game and now know outcome.''
