Yeah, that's right future employer who just checked my Linkedin and found it vaguely interesting: gas, the, kikes.

Just emailed this to your Mom and mailed a photocopy to your grandma

Pft... my grandparents are in their 80s and have email. Damn kids... send them to school, buy them books, and all they want to do is screw the teachers. :P

On the serious side, it's not an Internet issue. The philosophical and psychological questions of this date back thousands of years to at least Ancient Greece, and has been much debated. All the great minds encourage anonymity because it really does let people who feel oppressed speak out. This is the reason we're supposed to have freedom of speech, press, and religion. Unfortunately, even though there are no legal repercussions for exercising these rights in the industrialized world (some exceptions such as China still), there are often severe social ramifications.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Sorry for the late reply everyone. I was just trying to find opinions (and examples cougharvincough :P) of the online disinhibition effect for my speech. One response that I did not expect was dani's response whom dwarf my knowledge with not only knowledge about anonymous but also with various networking aspect in appliance to anonymity O.o; . I took a section of that and quoted you, Dani :).

For the record I got a 92 (mostly because I went over the maximum time in my speech). Thanks everyone :) .

@magic, oh I didn't know it dated back that far. How did ancient greece do so? It sounds interesting.

who follows the same routes every day,
who never changes pace,
who does not risk and change the color of his clothes,
who does not speak and does not experience, dies slowly.

They could grow up or seek serious therapy if they're so easily offended/reliant on other's opinions.

What do you think internet anonymity and how does it effect your actions when on the internet?

There is no true anonymity as it's just a matter of efforts to deanonymize someone ... and personally i do behave on the internet the same as i do face to face

but i think the general internet anonymity is good for the free speech, free expression and also a good training for ones own judgements ... politicans that are thinking about to force clear name usage in the internet (like the german minister of home affairs) are just braggers with bodyguards ...

funny side thing: back in the early years i fought some heavy ugly flame wars ... later i met 2 opponents in RL at a user meeting and we immediatly became friends and had a great day even when we still stood to our opinions ...
