I had thought about asking Atamzsiktrop to turn his 'creepy' thread into a film thread, I don't really watch tv as so much of it is just the same old thing in a different setting and brain numbing, lol, but I do love films. :)

I don't really have an all time favourite, though maybe Sin City ... idk ... I'll watch any genre but am not a big fan of romances, which are usually pretty dire .....

These are some of the films that have stuck in my head over recent years and that I would recommend to anyone who hasn't seen them. :)

Lucy.
No Country For Old Men
Lone Survivor
Pan's Labyrinth
The Maze Runner
Life of Pi
Sin City
Natural Born Killers
The Number 23
Defiance

Actually I could easily list another 10 but that will do for now. :D

Pan's Labyrinth

Hnng!
Yes, this movie is amazing. It reminds me much of myself, coping with the horrors of reality through fantasy. Or was it more than fantasy...? Dun dun duuun!

Which reminds me of another one of my favorites: The Labyrinth! The musical scores were amazing and the tale of a young girl struggling to save her younger brother which she tried so hard to escape from is truly heart-wrenching.

I really loved Apocalypse Meow. But 2001 was kind of lame. I can see why it has a lot of critical acclaim, but honestly I didn't enjoy it at all. It has some great moments, but those are spread thin between the 30minute pauses of nothing. And the lel-so-trippy ending was quite dissatisfying. I'm typically a huge sci-fi fan so I went into with huge expectations as well.

It's important to look at cinema while taking into consideration the time period it was released. There was quite literally nothing like it at the time and it's heavily influenced the genre since.

That's why I touched on the 'critical acclaim' part. I can definitely respect that when it came it was rather out of this world. I'm sure if I had seen it at release I'd be of a different mindset. But by the time I saw it, I realized id already seen the entirety of the movie recreated piece by piece in parodies, spoofs and homages.
