Concerning villages, I would love to join one at some point! Of course, I wouldn't mind trying to get my own thing started and see what I can do on my own, but I'd love to be part of a community once I make a few friends. According to Stya right now though, I'll do my best to keep my distance from other players to make sure I get some decent footing. I'm still trying to find that darn birch bark. I swear, I'm half convinced it doesn't exist...

I might join that Skype group, too! Thank you, Infected! I'm on Skype all the time, so it would probably be a good idea for me to bop on in there and flaunt how much of a newb I am.

You are probably searching on the wrong biomes.
In this game birches are found on grassland or heath, not inside of forests.

I had to do a double-take at your message. I thought you said "bitches are still existent." I briefly thought to myself, "This dude's pretty hardcore."

I think I am looking in the wrong biome, then! I bopped at one of those trees earlier, trying to get bark, but all I got was ordinary bark. Time to log back in and roam far and wide I suppose, and see if I can find the ever-elusive birch tree. Thank you very much for the information!

I found my birch tree, only to be knocked the hell out by a bear. I kept passing out, and then I died. RIP Newb #46853.

I got ambushed. I'm wandering about, trying to find water to put in my thingy-ma-doodle I proudly crafted from the birch bark, and then the bear barrels out of the woods and pretty much one-hit KO'd me. While I was unconscious it wandered away, I got up, teleported back to my hearth, and resumed my search for water. I kept spontaneously falling over after that, and then I poofed into the afterlife. Now I'm at the character creation area again, huffy because I can't reuse the name Anno, and have to wait several hours to inherit it. The life of a newb is a difficult one.
