Memes does fit into the category of culture. While it being the only means of proliferating culture is something I would disagree on, it is a fairly potent medium.

That being said, I do not think I seen an avatar in this forum that revolves around a meme.
The vast majority of communication with others are not just words; it is also diction, body motion, and many other factors. Even doing nothing is communication in itself. The moment your eyes meet someone, you have initiated contact. In essential, it is a constant non-stop flow between two or more entities.

First impressions are important. However I've found that almost anything can be achieved with the right choice of words, especially if you already know things about the person/group you're introducing yourself to. Post count, avatar, Skype...none of it matches the power of a carefully crafted story

I actually read peoples posts before paying any attention to their avatar or signature, and the content of their posts is the primary factor by which I pass my personal judgment of their character.

@MagicManICT
It seem to have the air of a petition to all forum users to have an avatar instead of being faceless. That also brings up an interesting subtopic.

What impression is given to an individual that has neither avatar nor signature and has been around for a while? I can't really place this in a first impression air since, by default, a new user will not have an avatar nor a signature picture and thus judged sorely by post content and user name.

Slightly off topic, is the person I was compared to in my introduction?
