Photoshop has more features and stuff. It is better optimized and so on.

And a legal copy is how much now?

I prefer 3DS and Maya for modelling, but can't afford the price tag, so use Blender.

Which brings me to a thought about using a 3D modelling tool. I'm thinking this might go beyond the scope of what you're wanting to do, though.

Just out of curiosity, what makes you prefer them? I know Jorb tried 3DS before trying Blender and he seems to much prefer the latter.

I agree that its way too expensive for personal use if you don't use it like every day. But it is better.
Actually I think you can't buy it anymore. You have to subscribe creative cloud which is like 12€ monthly for only photoshop. Its additional 26€ for each program in addition to that. Or 62€ / month for all of them.
Its bundled with 20 gb of cloud space. Which is pretty much useless as you can find plenty of space for free from various providers these days. Such as google. And expanding your storage space to 100gb in google drive costs near to nothing, like 2 dollars a month. Which is not that much.

The "feel" of the program. I have never got very deep with either, but it's what I learned the basics with (learned with AutoCAD, moved to 3D Studio later), so got used to the feel of the user experience. Don't get me wrong, Blender has grown on me, and I don't think there's anything that can't be done in Blender. A personal comparison is that I learned to drive in a small car. I can drive very large vehicles (tractor-trailer rigs), but I still feel better driving the small cars. I'm more confident pushing the limits. (If I hit something, it's going to do damage in the small car. If I hit something in a big rig, not only do massive damage to whatever I hit, it can be lethal even at low speeds.) I know it's a horrid analogy, but best I can think of.
