I've never really understood the boredom factor so early on in your game, there is always so much to do in Haven, initially there is the planning and building of your base, then the setting up of the various industries, once you have those in place there is just never enough hrs in the day! Lol, by the time I've farmed, fed the animals, crafted some curios and hopefully had time to work on w/e new project I have on the go - it's time for bed!
You have to understand that in this game the more you do, discover, build and craft the more things you open up for yourself ... there is a period where you are sort of stuck, waiting on things but this is when you would be planning and building your base giving you something to do in the meantime.
There is just so much more you haven't even discovered yet .... the raising of q and stats is just a part of it, a part I personally do find rewarding but, not at the expense of everything else in the game, I'm happy with slow and steady which then gives me time both in and out of my base.
If you don't enjoy the crafting and building and the day to day survival aspect and progression then I guess you could try joining a bigger village where there is less pressure on you to do everything for yourself and you have the social network and support or take the nomad route as already suggested and just travel about exploring and meeting ppl but tbh my guess is that if you are bored before you've even established a fully working base then maybe Haven just isn't the type of game for you ...
As MM says, keep your industries small, as a hermit you will only find yourself swamped with things you don't need and are never going to use (I have two great halls absolutely full of food which would be crawling with maggots if this were the real world!) and the time sink will make the game become more of a chore than fun, I make silk and steel for example, as and when I need them or if I have a few days off from work ... I rather like to have projects and goals, mining to level 5 - building everything available - design, art - exploring the whole of the map - forging links between neighbours and forming small communities .... there is seriously plenty to do, you just have to come up with an idea and decide which direction you want to take this game in to be fun to you.
I still this world have to take down a mammoth and a troll ...

... And find gold!!!!!
