loftar claims it's not random but then you get 3.4k lp for visiting a cave and when you do another quest in which you greet a new quest giver, light a fire, kill badger, craft level 2 artifact and turn it in and receive your 70 points of experience or something like that... To me that doesn't seem like it's "very deterministically calculated"

Technically computer can not generate some ''random'' thing, so it will be deterministically calculated. This becomes a not useful distinction though.

you also receive 0% hunger reduction rewards and I'm not sure if that's intended, it happened last world too but it's a pretty crappy reward

Have you check if it actually give 0%? I sort of guess that it is because it gives you <0.5% and just rounds down to 0% on message. If it literally give 0% then I hope this is no intentional, as it is very silly reward!

You're probably right it's something like 0.X but that is still a useless reduction even while at 300%

There is definitely very big gap between best reward and worst reward.

It's deterministic regardless. I'll take Loftar's word over speculation with a poor sample size.

Range of reward has nothing to do with determinism vs. random.

I never claimed it did.
