This. Bows are completely useless right now, at least for hunting.
Just do what the guy before said, lure it into a big strip of shallow water, punch it till it runs and chase it with your boat.

Eh, I still use bows for hunting, its just harder in general?

I find it more enjoyable tho

What's this about ranged weapons screwing up animal hide quality?

From what I've experimented, each projectile softcaps the animal quality. Shoot him enough and the q drops sharply.

And yes, slings do the same thing, so its even worse most of the time

You don't have to experiment, it was clearly stated in the patch notes viewtopic.php?f=39&t=51157
