I always thought that they were mud crabs, they can get pretty big, like half a meter wide or so.

Are we really supposed to eat them raw?
I had expected the need to cook them...

Well irl you can eat crab meat raw without getting sick, it's just all slimy and tastes like ass.

Yes i was quite confused about that as well but i guess it is animal cruelty to boil live crabs.
