I stumbled in here after stumbling into another "little" indie game called Dwarf Fortress (which I found from hanging out in the Fed Navy noob chat--EVE--for waaaay too long). Unfortunately, the B12'ers had already given up their village in w3 for some reason... at least, the ones that had established it had. I goofed around for about a month or without doing a whole lot as a hermit as I hated the LP grind that was the method of w3.

I've led a small village consisting of my family--myself and my brother and all our alts. My niece and son occasionally popped in and goofed around with the crops and cows. Still can't get anyone else to look at it because of the permadeath and open PvP... most of my gaming guild are theme-parkers and battleground only style PvP, though most did play Warhammer Online and Age of Conan for well over a year (even the "battleground only" and pvp-averse members). For them, I think the permadeath was the put-off.

Saw a thread about this on an animations forums, doesn't exist now. Same way I stumbled upon minecraft. Both games stole a good chunk of my life. I regret nothing.

Learned the basics in a small noob village, then played as a hermit/thrall farmer for some time on w5/6/7.

This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.”

Came across Haven and Hearth after playing for a solid 2 years on a WoW private role-playing server. It was posted in the Inn of Brodgar equivalent on the servers forums. Played it for a day or two, thought it was dumb. Came back for some reason and played it fucking endlessly with the other role-players, and thus it begun. (Dying with them, killing them all (W5), joining a hermit, W6 winterfell handholder confirmed, and so on)

Friend showed me in college back in '11. Played like 2 months, quit, remember this game last July, see that New Haven was coming out, stuck around on old haven to get a grasp on mechanics assuming theyd at least be similar so I wouldnt be totally unprepared.

Was playing Darkfall and some one talked about H&H on a forum, tried it but was unimpressed by the graphics and played anothergame, then came again to look further, and it did it.

Projared made a vid of it. Tried to download it, could'nt get it to work. Nearly a year later (Knew alot more about computers now) i decided to try again, and with some help from MahDryBread, (Epic dude, taught me SO much on the basics. Look him up!) i finally got it working! Got so exited, i helped my bro get it too and we had a blast together! Couple months later the huge update came along. I was frustrated, but decided to get Hafen. What happened? Didn't work. Three months later my bro tried and SUPRISE it worked now. Built a little base and haven't play for a month. Did it all with 1-2 FPS. I played it for about 3 months then decided it was too laggy to continue. Started playing Legacy, made a epic base with my two bros and Bananza and his friends decided to come destroy it for fun. I now hate bananza. Don't play alot now, just doesn't really feel worth it, but i still play in spurts. Atleast i can get away from the game now, but in a month or two i'll probably get hooked on it again. And THAT ladies and gentleman, is my story, about my journey, through Haven & Hearth!
Total misplay.

i saw projared's vid as well. it looked so... different from everything else i played. and i was ungodly bored with the same shit day in and day out. closest thing i played was minecraft of course, and minecrafts variety is a joke. so i started playing back in w7. hermited for a bit before looking for a village. found a good one, leader left, left me in charge. said he'd come back, never quite did. i ended up being law speaker for dragons pass and red fox. traded with ramones an asston, and learned how stupid and petty some people can be. i remember arguing with my farmers about the damn honey. they didnt want to store it in its proper location in a house and wanted to stick it in urns near the farms. we didnt make honey THAT damn fast. i ended up having to sort the honey myself to appease those two whiners. i still miss em though. only one guy from my old village is playing in w8...
Newbie and noob do not mean the same thing.

Neither do figuratively and literally.

I had been following along with PaulJr's minecraft guides when he was first starting out and he put out his video during that time
My first time logging into haven I spawned within like 15 tiles of a bear so of course it killed me and I quit the game for a week or two before rerolling and actually trying it out

Finnish imageboard had threads on Haven. Unfortunately I didn't start as early as I did sine I thought game was somehow like Travian that I had learned to dislike. Also the wording made it sound like the permadeath is inevitable/you could be killed offline or something.

Started late w6 goofed around barely learning basics. I didn't realize you should add points to your abilities (exploration, survival) and ended up getting little to no LP.
