I'm fine with immigrants coming into the US. Statistically they commit fewer crimes than US citizens though I'm not sure if they're more or less productive in terms of economic output. For people worried about them stealing jobs or milking the system, that's like worrying about a drip worsening a drought. Sure, in a small way it may not be helping but ultimately the real problem lies elsewhere.
I always feel bad for illegal immigrants. Despite what we might think, most of them do pay taxes and pay into systems like social security and medicare. The problem is that, without legal citizenship, they're not entitled to get anything out of those systems, so it's just like having an extra tax on them. With pensions going the way of the dodo it's hard enough to have stable later years, let alone retire, but without social security or medicare you're really screwed. You'll be working till the day you die just to scrape by.
