Dwarf fortress is not that harsh.
People are just too used for everything being so easy, they literally dont have to use their brains!
Sad!

Once you learn to harness the power of drawbridges and abuse prepared meals to buy whole caravans, the game gets really simple. Though you can always work on your own special projects while waiting for FPS death.

So FPS death is when your dorf world / 0?

Every mildly successful fortress will eventually reach the point where everything becomes unbearably slow because of 200+ dwarves ( though you can reduce population cap in the files ), a ton of domesticated animals, troglodyte and crundle hordes and constant goblin sieges always pathfinding somewhere. The world itself continues to exist and at this point you should just open the circus or abandon the fortress to start a new one (or visit it in adventure mode). And frankly, safe fortresses that can last forever are a bit boring.

The Kitten Horde. Then ye shall knoweth fear.

I honestly get really annoyed at the game when I start having to manage more than like 15 dwarves at a time. There is no fun beyond that point.

That's what tools like Dwarf Therapist are for. Damn if I'm going to try manually managing jobs that need done through the normal interface.

Still... nerds calling others nerds? Isn't there something in the nerd rulebook about that? Doesn't it dictate some sort of nerd off? Let the superior nerd win! (Because in the world of being a nerd, you can't really make yourself a lesser nerd and be "normal," so you might as well be the biggest one.)
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
