Not really Moot subject matter, but yes it is down and Ricky is trying to get a hold of the owner of the site to see what is wrong. However the owner doesn't visit the forums as often anymore.

Back at it, wiki down right now, few questions !

Postby DamJNeT » Tue Jun 13, 2017 8:41 pm

Hey guys !

I've been reading the devnotes since I quit (long time ago, last world), and I must say it's pretty impressive. I wanted to check a few things, and this push-out mechanic is dope !

Anyway, to my questions now :

I -of course- tried to catch everything I've never encountered before. Including a crab and a hedgehog. I don't know why, but I got crab caressed twice catching a single crab. And I got quill'd getting that hedgehog. How do I heal those ? I've lost 6 dex (I'm sitting at 5 now) and nearly half my HHP due to this crap.

I've seen they introduced some kind of hobbit holes you can't see on the map. Is the inside safe if I place my first claim outside one ?

I have a quest going on, where I walked 45 minutes to say "Hi!" to a tree, and now he wants me to go and greet someone else and craft an artifact... It seems to be pretty far away and I'd have to cross a body of water without boatmaking yet... Are there several type of quests ? Are the rewards worth it ? Should I just abandon or try to complete it later ?

Browsing the forum a bit I've seen people advising not to use marksmanship anymore... I'm not familiar with the new combat system at all, is there a "guide" for new combat, and how to hunt different types of animals ?

Thanks guys, good to see Hafen is sill going strong :]

Times like these show how deeply metagame-y haven is. Without a wiki and its forum, the game's experience becomes pretty bad.

For the wiki, use Google to search and look at the cached version. You can also use the Wayback Machine (www.archive.org) to access cached webpages. (Someone posted a link to the Wayback RoB Wiki directly here somewhere.)

As far as the crabs and hedgehogs, wear gloves, even poor man's gloves (needs 4 leather if memory serves) to decrease odds of injuries. There is no treatment for them other than time. Watch out for infected wounds as these are a pain to heal early on (so warning for any other damage you might take, too.)

If your claim covers an entrance, yeah. We're not sure if they have a purpose or are just abandoned animal dens. Feel free to use them like a cave entrance, or even a free "house". (You can build in them as if it were a house--cupboards, table & chairs, etc.)

Yeah, ammunition softcaps hides of anything shot, so either have high quality ammo or learn to use the hunting combat exploits... or just man up and fight them fairly. Up to you.

As for quests... it's up to you if it's worth the time. I've enjoyed them. You can get EXP, LP, artifacts, and hunger removed.

This is what games have become.
Do research online to play them.

Don't abandon it. The quest stays indefinitely unless someone destroys the quest tree or stone. Just do the quest some other time when you're headed that way, after you have a boat or found someone's road network to use.

You gentlemen need to develop an eidetic memory. Then everything you read is readily accessible from your own brain. :ugeek:
